I don’t look forward to any type of visit; let alone one where I know bad news is afoot. Let me just say, River Park I was probably the best experience I have ever had.”

Preventive Dentistry
Preventative care is not only the foundation of dentistry, it’s the foundation of a healthy mouth. The American Dental Association recommends visiting the dentist twice a year for a full cleaning and exam. Professional dental cleanings help address plaque and tartar that can’t be removed by brushing or flossing. Regular dental appointments are also important because they allow us to identify any possible dental issues before they progress into more serious problems. When you maintain regular dental check-ins, you’re protecting yourself from decay, gum disease, and any severe issues that could jeopardize your health.

With our advanced procedures, therapies, and guidance, we can keep your oral health in great condition.
Dental Cleaning and Consultation
Did you know that statistically, Americans are less likely to go to the dentist as they get older? According to the Centers for Disease Control, only 57% of Americans over the age of 65 visited the dentist in 2010. Compared to that, about 61% of Americans younger than age 65 went to the dentist, and 79% of children from age 2 to 17. No matter what age you’re at, it is absolutely crucial to stay on top of routine dental cleanings and exams, especially if it’s been a while since your last appointment.
Do I really need to have my teeth professionally cleaned?
Yes. Even if you’re diligent and brush and floss twice a day, bacteria can still get trapped in between teeth and cause plaque. Over time, the teeth can begin to decay in those areas which can lead to discomfort and even tooth loss in severe cases.
What should I expect at my cleaning and exam consultation at River Park Dental in Rocky Hill, CT?
Your consultation starts with a visual examination of your teeth and gums. If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while, Dr. Ahmed will also take x-rays to get a more comprehensive view of your mouth. He’ll talk to you about any oral health problems you may have and answer any questions. Once that is complete, our dental hygienist will use special instruments to gently remove plaque from your teeth. Your teeth are polished for a luminous finish before Dr. Ahmed shares any treatment recommendations he may have for you.
What types of guidelines should I follow after my visit?
Be sure to maintain good oral hygiene habits at home in between your routine dental visits. This includes brushing, flossing, drinking fluoridated water, and using fluoride toothpaste for best results.
